Numerous revealed anomalies regarding the Food French origin
Background to the first official controls on Food French origin
📢 Since Bruno Le Maire, the French Minister for the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, announced on the 1st of February that more than 10,000 checks would be performed regarding the French origin of food products by 2024, the DGCCRF (Direction générale de la Concurrence, de la Consommation et de la Répression des fraudes) has been keeping a close eye on francization.
More and more anomalies detected
⚠️ In fact, more than 2,000 checks have already been carried out by DGCCRF officials at all stages of the marketing process. The results show that of these 2,000 checks :
✅ 683 contain an anomaly
✅ 413 warnings will be sent to establishments whose non-compliance is due to a lack of knowledge of the regulations
✅ 130 requests for compliance will be made by way of injunction
✅ 2 administrative fines will be issued
✅ 150 penal minutes will be sent to the courts
🔍 The checks carried out covered all "raw and fresh food products, in particular fruit and vegetables, meat products and alcoholic beverages". Their aim is to combat fraud, consumer misinformation and unfair competition for French producers. In addition, these controls guarantee clear and fair information for the consumer on product displays and labels throughout the marketing chain.
