For the conclusion of its five-year research and innovation work, the EU-funded FOODINTEGRITY project organised the 5th conference, focusing on « Assuring the integrity of the food chain: delivering real world solutions ».

Eurofins Food & Feed testing France was selected to organise the event. After York in 2014, Bilbao in 2015, Prague in 2016 and Parma in 2017, the 5th FoodIntegrity conference took place in Nantes, France, on 14 and 15 November 2018.

More than 300 delegates from 26 countries representing a range of stakeholders from food control authorities, food industry, European Commission, research organisations and public administration attended the event.

The conference offered a well-balanced multidisciplinary programme with keynote lectures and panels on the main innovative topics in food integrity. Solutions to be implemented in the food sector were also presented and high-level keynote speakers debated current issues and provided insights regarding the future fight against food fraud. The programme also included poster sessions, workshops, awards, demo sessions, vendor seminars and an extensive social programme (including a conference dinner in an exclusive location).

FoodIntegrity is a major research project funded by the European Commission, launched at the beginning of 2014.

This five-year project brought together 60 participants from industry, academia, research institutes and a global network of stakeholders. Its key focus was to protect consumers and industry from food fraud by providing Europe with a state-of-the-art and integrated capability for detecting fraud and assuring the integrity of the food chain.

As a key partner in the project, Eurofins companies led a group of experts in charge of building a comprehensive database of potential frauds and associated detection methods.

This project has received funding from the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement n° 613688.
